Roger Rokes

Roger Keith Rokes, 71, of Marshalltown, passed away March 18, 2007 at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 21st at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Burry officiating. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Roger and his family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on May 15, 1935, in Otter Creek Township, Tama County, he was the son of John and Edna (Taylor) Rokes. He received his education in the Garwin area and graduated in May of 1954. He then attended Marshalltown Community College. Roger resided in the Tama and Marshall County areas, where he was employed at Lennox Industries for 43 years, retiring in May 1997. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Lennox Credit Union, Lennox Retirement Group, Board of Directors Mid Iowa Workshop, and was a past president of the Lennox Management Club. He enjoyed history, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He traveled the United States, Canada, and once visited Ireland. Above all, he loved his family, and enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews. Left to celebrate his life are his sister-in-law, Dorothy Rokes, and several nieces and nephews. In death he has rejoined his parents and siblings: Philip Rokes, Maxine Shalet, Florence Cooper, John Rokes, Ralph Rokes, Grace Jordebrek, Harold Rokes, and Alva Rokes.
