Roland Rolly Clar, 94, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Villa Del Sol. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at the Vienna Cemetery. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Roland Wayne Clar was born on December 29, 1919, in Marshall County to Henry and Agnes (Hanisch)Clar. He attended school in Green Mountain where he lived most of his life. Throughout his life he enjoyed working on area farms and loved mowing. From the time he was young he had a gift of music and could play virtually any instrument. He played with several bands along the way and especially enjoyed Roy Robinett and the Revelers, and playing with the Country Time Players on KFJB Radio. Rolly is survived by one brother, Jim Clar of Cedar Rapids, IA, several nieces and nephews and his good friends, Ronald and Betty Gauch, Suzanne Gauch, Scott and Lori Gauch and their children Cole and Connor, Robert and Judith Robinette and their children Anthony, Tyler and Angela and Jerry and Cindy Robinette and their daughter Dawn. In death he has rejoined his longtime companion G. Maxine Robinett, parents, eight brothers, two sisters and his half brother.
