Roland Ervol Fink, 83, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Roland Fink was born on February 2, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Ervol and Edna (Tiffany) Fink. Roland attended grade school in Lincoln and high school in Gladbrook. He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Riley, Vietnam, and Fort Carson. Roland was united in marriage to Gail Lovell on September 7, 1968 at the Reinbeck Presbyterian Church. He was employed at Hoeg and Ames and retired from Ritchie Industries in the maintenance department after thirty years.
Roland served as a city councilman and was mayor of Lincoln for 42 years. He was a member of the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years. Roland was also a member of the Lincoln Am Vets. Roland loved his family and his dogs. He enjoyed working on vehicles. He was good at fixing things and even built his own garage. Roland also enjoyed watching TV, the Iowa Hawkeye basketball and football games, playing computer games, and doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed attending his Army reunions with his son and grandson. On September 12, 2017, he was honored to go on the Cedar Valley Honor Flight for Vietnam Veterans to Washington D.C., and his son accompanied him on the flight.
Roland is survived by his wife of 57 years- Gail. Children: Mark Fink of Gladbrook and Brenda (Craig) Davenport of Gladbrook. Grandson: Matthew (Carrie) Eilderts of Gladbrook; great-granddaughter: Kinzley Eilderts whom shared the same date of birth with Roland ( February 2nd). He is also survived by his sister: Sharol Hopes and dog- Mytsie.
Roland is preceded in death by his parents, sister- Rose Ella Rittgers and three faithful dogs: Pepsi, Blondie, and Lucky.
