Roland Bud Martin, 75, of Marshalltown, died Friday, April 25th, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 29th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. A time of fellowship will follow the interment at the funeral home hospitality room. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on November 16th, 1932, at home in New Providence, Iowa, he was the son of Howard and Phoebe (Knight) Martin. He attended school through the 11th grade in Whitten and graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1950. Bud served our country honorably in the United States Army for two years stationed in California and Washington before returning home to farm with his dad. Soon after, he moved to Marshalltown to begin working for Fisher Controls. He retired after nearly 40 years of faithful service to them. He was a member of the Honeycreek-New Providence Friends Church, the UAW Retirees and American Legion. Left to cherish his memory are his sister Virginia (Clarence) Veld of Marshalltown, two nephews and one niece: David Veld of Marshalltown, Daryl (Robin)Veld of Mingo, and Becky (Mark) Steffan of Pipestone, MN, eight great-nieces and nephews, three great-great-nieces and nephews, uncles Tom Knight of Marshalltown, Nixon Knight in Oregon, aunt Marie Knight of Marshalltown, his neighborhood family at Fairmeadows Road and several cousins and friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and faithful friend and companion, Bubba his dog.
