Rollie Billman, Jr., 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Rollie Ernest Billman, Jr. was born on July 9, 1924, in Marshalltown, Iowa on North Third Avenue and Marion Street; he was the son of Rollie Ernest Billman, Sr. and Hazel Blanche (Wilson) Billman. Rollie attended school in the Melbourne Community School District. Rollie served our Country honorably in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946. During his service, he was on a Supply Ship as a Machinist Mate. On December 11, 1948 was united in marriage to Katherine Mae Kaufmann at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Rollie worked for the State Of Iowa Highway Commission in Maintenance for 25 and one half years. Rollie loved to camp, he belonged to three chapters of campers, Central Iowa Sams Club, Two Rivers Sams Club and also Starcraft Camping Club. He enjoyed Walt Disney Movies, eating at IHOP, helped Cindy can and cook, loved mowing the yard, trips to the south in the winter as well as other traveling, had an avid interest in farming and farm equipment and always wanted to know how things were made. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Cindy of Marshalltown, Iowa, sister-in-law, Eunice Billman of Tucson, Arizona, and brother-in-law Bob Plunkett of Marshalltown, Iowa and many nieces, nephews and other family members. In death Rollie rejoins his wife, Katherine (1993), and his siblings; Alberta Crandall, Edna Carrithers, Opal Harrison, Esther Eastman and Robert Billman.
