Ronald Brickman, 65, a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home, died there Monday, November 26, 2012. Funeral services for Ronald will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 30, 2012, at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. Visitation for Ronald will be at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel on Friday, November 30, 2012, from 9:30 until time of service. Burial will follow services at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorial contributions may be directed in his name to the Iowa Veterans Home. Ronald was born November 23, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Clarence and Helene (Benzine) Brickman. He was raised and educated in the Oran and Sumner, Iowa areas. He graduated from the Sumner High School and attended NIACC for a short time before enlisting with the United States Marines. Ronald actively served his country as a member of the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. Throughout his lifetime Ronald worked for Thermogas in Palo, Iowa, in construction and as a landscaper in Plano, Texas and with the United States Postal Service in Waterloo and Cedar Falls, Iowa. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Marines he founded the Vietnam Veterans United Group. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Brickman of Raymond, Iowa, his son Bryan (Nicki) Brickman of Frisco, Texas, his step-son Greg Brown of Des Moines, his mother Helene Brickman of Sumner, Iowa, his brother Jerry (Mary) Brickman of Forrest City, Iowa, his sister Joyce Foster of Sumner, Iowa and his grandson Bo Charles Brickman. Ronald was preceded in death by his father, his step-son Stacey and his step-granddaughter Whitley Brown.
