Ronald LeRoy Cummings, 69, of Marshalltown, passed away at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice Home on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Funeral services for Ron will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life reception at TCs Pub to follow. Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ron Cummings was born on July 18, 1946 in Marshalltown to Roy and Irene Franklin Cummings. In September of 1963, Ron was united in marriage to Jacqueline Allen in Marshalltown. Ron had worked for Martin Marietta Sand and Gravel for over 35 years, and retired in 2012. Ron had been a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, camping and drinking beer. Ron is survived by his daughters: Christine (Michael) Briney of Marshalltown, Holly Barber of Shelton, Washington and Angela (Chris) Witherbee of Shelton, Washington. Grandchildren: Ryan, Jennifer, Travis, Austin, Colby, Kayli, Jackie, Michael and Savanha as well as four great grandchildren with one on the way. Ron is also survived by his sister Barb Williams of Marshalltown as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Ron is preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline who passed in 2002, parents Roy and Irene and sister Sandy Sanders.
