Ronald E. Engle, 65, of rural Conrad, died Tuesday, March 4th, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8th, at the Liscomb Church of Christ with Pastor Paul McDermott and Helmer Peterson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Conrad Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. on Friday. There will be a Marshall Masonic Lodge #108 AF & AM Rite at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed in his memory to the Liscomb Church of Christ, Animal Rescue League or St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Born on December 4th, 1942, in State Center, he was the son of Ralph and Arlene (Cory) Engle, Jr. He graduated with the Conrad High Schools Class of 1960 and the Marshalltown Community College in 1962. On August 24th, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sandra Russie at the Conrad United Methodist Church. They lived and farmed in the Conrad and Union area. Ronald was an active member of the Liscomb Church of Christ serving as Deacon, church treasurer and sang in two quartets and church choir, served on the Grundy County Soil and Water Commission, Marshall Masonic Lodge #108 AF & AM, 32 degree Scottish Rite- Valley of Des Moines Orient of Iowa, and a past member of the BCL and BCLUW School Board, Prairieland Cooperative Board as Secretary, Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #564 AF & AM, 4-H leader, past Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher and South Hardin Kiwanis. He treasured his grandchildren and enjoyed collecting model tractors, listening to music, landscaping and spending time with family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra, his children: Jone Betts, Joel (Tammie Frederick) Engle, Holly (Kent) Kroeger, Ryan (Diane) Engle and Karen Bacon, his grandchildren: Kayla and Kelly Betts, Kari and Kristen Kroeger, Evan and Allison Engle, Bryce and Brooke Bacon and Katie Bell, his siblings Gary (Dian) Engle and Julie (John)McNair, his mother Arlene and numerous other family and friends. In death he has rejoined his father, sister Linda Engle and grandson, Ethan Engle.
