Ronald Eugene Gale, Sr.

Ronald Gale, Sr. age 78, a proud US Veteran, father and husband, passed away suddenly in the peace of his home in Union, Iowa, on the night of Wednesday, January 8th, 2020.           A memorial gathering honoring his life will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born on May 1st, 1941, in Iowa City, IA, he was the son of Clifton Clyde and Helen (Swain) Gale. He attended the Union Public Schools.           On December 13th, 1968, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Reynolds, in Rockford, IL. They made their home in Dixon, IL, Ashton, IL, and moved back to his hometown of Union, Iowa, about 20 years ago. The couple shared 51 years of marriage and 53 years of companionship together at the time of his passing.           Ron served our country honorably in the United States Army for a total of 30 years. Coinciding with many of those years, he was employed as a welder and an engineer in road building and retired from the Kysor-Westran Company of Byron, IL.           He will be fondly remembered for his love of family, giving people a hard-time, teasing his daughter Brenda about the TV or her stealing the cashews out of the mixed nuts, and trying to always get one up on people. He would always put money back to help out those who needed it or gave freely of his time to assist anyone. Simply, his daughter and wife said he was a great man!           Left to cherish his memory are Mary, his loving wife of 51 years, daughter Brenda Downs of Dixon, IL, son Russell Gale, and many other family and friends.           In death, he rejoined his parents and son, Ronnie Eugene Gale, Jr.
