Ronald Jean Hays

November 29, 1938 — April 30, 2023

Ronald Jean Hays passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Ronald was one of six children born to Argyle and Eleanor Hays in Clearfield, Iowa, on November 29, 1938. He attended Afton High School.

While living as a young man in Des Moines, Iowa, Ronald began his career as a milk man. He then ran a small restaurant before becoming a vending sales rep. He married Treva Simmons on February 14, 1960, in Attica, Iowa. Born to this union were three children: Douglas, Ronalea and Von. Ronald served in the Iowa National Guard. He was a lifetime Mason with the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and a proud Clearfield Lions Club member for most of his adult life. Ronald was known for his generosity with and love of his extended family.

Ronald and his family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, in August 1974 where he became his own boss and jack of all trades. Ronald and Treva established a vending company, R&T Services, an ice cream shop named Hays’ Hut and a used car dealership, Ron’s Auto, a direct result of having collected too many cars and convertibles; all of these entities were under the umbrella of TrevRon Corporation. In addition, he rehabbed houses and was a landlord to several in and around the Marshalltown, Iowa, area. Ronald and his wife moved to Colorado in 2015 to be closer to their youngest grandchildren and enjoy their retirement.

Left to remember his memory are his wife, Treva, and two of the three children born into their union. Daughter, Ronalea Alleman, and her husband, Brian, live in Highlands Ranch, CO, along with their two sons, Caleb Alleman and Eli Alleman. Ronald’s youngest son, Von Hays, lives in Lewisville, TX, with his wife, Kristin, and their two children, Henry Hays and Eleanor Hays. Ronald has three remaining siblings, Donald Hays, of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Shirley Monday, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Richard Hays, of Murray, Iowa, and their respective wives and children. In addition to immediate family, Ronald has eighteen surviving nieces and nephews and several close cousins.

Ronald was preceded in death by his oldest son, Douglas, his parents, and two brothers, Argyle E. Hays and William Hays who is survived by his wife, Rosemary Hays, of Alma, Arkansas.

Ronald’s family will be hosting an Interment of Ashes ceremony at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox, Iowa, on Friday, June 16th at 1:30pm.
