Ronald Monk

Ronald Edward Monk, 86, of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Unity Point in Marshalltown.   Memorial visitation for Ronald will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ronald and his family.   Ronald “Bud” Monk was born on June 18, 1932 in Clearfield, Iowa to Claude and Eva Greer Monk. He was a graduate from Clearfield High School. On January 30, 1952, Bud was united in marriage to Beverly Gaule. Bud served his country honorably in the Korean War from 1952 until 1954 and was a Sergeant in the 21st Infantry 24th Division as a tank commander. He was employed by Fisher Controls from 1964-1994. Bud was a proud member of UAW 893 and the VFW. In 2016 he was able to go on the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight with his son Rocky. He was a very proud Veteran. Bev and Bud’s home was open all through the years to any child in need. He loved baseball and coached all the boys’ teams as they grew up and later he tried never to miss any of the grandkids and great grandkids games.   Bud is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Bev. Children: Rod (Carol) Monk, Rocky (Lissa) Monk, Cindy (Chuck) Bennett, Rusty (Annette) Monk, Roger (Sandy) Monk and Shelly Monk. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.   Bud is preceded in death by his children: Linda (Jon) Diggins, Randy Monk and Rick Monk and his parents Claude and Eva.
