Ronald Nott, 72, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday night, September 30th, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center while in care of the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He will be laid to rest in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Newburg. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ron and his family. Born on February 4th, 1937, at Enon, Missouri, he was one of eight children born to Edgar and Beulah (Fahrni) Nott. He graduated from the Newburg High Schools Class of 1954. On June 16th, 1962, he was united in marriage to Kay Richeson at the Baptist Temple in Marshalltown. They made their home in Gilman, Montezuma and Marshalltown. Ron was a diesel mechanic for the CNW Railroad for 12 years, did mechanical work, but was truly born to be a farmer- his true passion in life. He loved farming, his family, being a member of the Gilman Saddle Club (also serving as president), the Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association, cars and car racing, horses, and Allis-Chalmers Tractors. He enjoyed comedy music- like Ray Stevens and Garrison Keeler comedy as well as vintage country music. Left to treasure his memory are Kay- his loving wife of 47 years, two children: Andrew Nott of Marshalltown and Peggy (Bill) Moore of Conrad, eight grandchildren, his siblings- Ruthie (Vernon) Cooling of Garwin, Patsy Smith of Grinnell, Gary (Sheryl) Nott of Barnard, MO, Darrel (Sandra) Nott of Mira Loma, CA, Virginia McDowell of Cedar Rapids and Margaret Lorine (Jim) Hurley of Santa Rosa, CA, his mother-in-law Maxine Richeson of Marshalltown, sister-in-law Ann (George) Bell of Marshalltown as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, sister Doris Kellogg, father-in-law Charles Richeson and nephews Rick and Ray Cooling.
