Ronald "Ron" Gene Navara

Ronald “Ron” Navara, 77, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in the comfort of his own home.  Funeral services for Ron will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating.  Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services.  He will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens following his service.  Memorial contributions may be directed in Ron’s name to his family.  For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234.  Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ron and his family. Ronald Gene Navara was born on October 14, 1941 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Tony and Nellie Arlene (Switzer) Navara.  He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, where he graduated from Marshalltown High School.  Following high school, Ron went on to honorably serve his Country by enlisting with the United States Navy.  On June 7, 1964, Ron was united in marriage to Carol Brown in Marshalltown, Iowa.  From this union two children were born: Teresa and Warren.  Ron was a hardworking man, where he dedicated his working career at Fisher Controls as a tool maker.  Ron was a proud member of the UAW Post 893.  He had a passion for fishing, (especially Trout fishing), gardening, baking his famous pies, pickles, spending time with his family and more fishing. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Carol; two children: Teresa (Rick) Lang and Warren (Tina) Navara; grandchildren: Nick and Sam Lang as well as Jacob and Justin Navara; siblings: Shirley Svendsen, Jim (Jean) Navara, Gerald Navara, David (Lynda) Navara, Mike (Bonnie) Navara; a few nephews and many nieces and his four legged furry companion, Lydia Faye.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Nellie Navara as well as his In-Laws, Jesse and Anna Belle Brown.
