Ronald Lee Spicer, 68, of Marshalltown, passed away at Mary Greeley on November 27, 2016 with his wife by his side. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 9 to noon at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Ronald was born on October 26, 1948 to Frank and Ruth (Wilkins) Spicer in Grundy Center, IA. In 1968 Ronald served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, and was stationed in Okinawa. In 1970 Ronald was honorably discharged. After his service Ronald attended Ellsworth Community College and Marshalltown Community College and graduated with a Commercial Arts Degree from the School of Associated Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was employed for many years by Monsanto in Beaman, IA, retiring in 2006. On November 20, 1984, Ronald was united in marriage to Nancy Sebern. The two made their home in Marshalltown. Ronald was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt in his free time. Ronald and Nancy enjoyed traveling through the United States and returning home to garden. In later years, Ronald was an eager reader of all types of books, especially accounts of World War II. Left to cherish Ronalds memory are his wife of 32 years Nancy Sebern, son Ryan Spicer, brothers Ed Spicer (Kris) and Jeff Spicer (Mary) and his mother Ruth. Ronald is preceded in death by his father Frank.
