Ronald Alvin Zimmer, 79, of Silver City, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.Per Bobs wishes, he has been cremated and no service will be held. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Society in Rons name.Ron was born April 16, 1933 in Mt Clemons, Michigan to Isadore and Lydia Nicolai Zimmer. After High School, Ron went into the Army and later retired from the Air Force. In 1972 Ron met Linda Halley and they married in California; they were together until her passing in 2003. Ron worked at PG & E as a pole setter for 15 years and was also a tire plant robotics mechanic. Ron was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars both in Woodland and Glenwood, Iowa. In Rons free time, he liked to work on all sorts of things. He was a mechanic and just tinkered with everything and he would throw nothing out unless it was absolutely impossible for him to fix. Ron always had an immaculate yard and loved to be outside.Left to cherish his memory includes his children: Mary Ann Biltz (Thomas) of Clinton Twp., Michigan; Sharon Marie Meldrum Jeffrey) of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; Ron Zimmer Jr. of California; John (Kathy) Zimmer of Gilroy, Arizona; Brenda McClain from Arizona and Neva (Mike) of Glenwood, Iowa. Also left to cherish his memories are his grandchildren: Thomas, Sean, Garrett and Katie from Michigan and great grandchildren.Ron is preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Linda; both parents; his son Dennis Zimmer and a sister Anna Lesnau.
