Ronda Matherly

Ronda Sue Matherly, age 52, of Marshalltown passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of July 14, 2020.  She was surrounded by her loving family and in the care of Iowa River Hospice. A celebration of life for Ronda will take place Saturday, July 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a private family burial at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.  Attendees are encouraged to wear Iowa Hawkeye or Iowa State Cyclone gear.  Memorials may be directed to CIRSI or Iowa River Hospice.  For additional information or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Ronda Sue, also called “Ronnie Suey” by her family, was born on August 18, 1967 in Marshalltown to parents Jim Matherly and Bonnie (Reed) Cook.  She graduated from Pleasant Hill School in Marshalltown in 1988.  Ronda worked as an associate at Mid Iowa Workshop. Ronda was actively involved in CIRSI, where she had many friends, including her boyfriend Bill; Aktion Club, Special Olympics and ARC.  She enjoyed making beaded bracelets for everyone and doing puzzles.  Ronda loved musical movies like Frozen, Footloose, Dirty Dancing and Grease.  She was obsessed with the color orange and all things tie-dye.  Ronda was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She is survived by her father Jim (Lynnece) Matherly; mother Bonnie Cook; siblings Michelle (Rob) Van Horn, Melissa (Brad) Carl, Bryan Matherly, Richard (Jodi) Matherly and Travis (Marci) Bittner; and nieces and nephews Jon Van Horn, Peyton (Sean) Maday, Austin (Allyson) Carl, Casey Carl, Tessa Matherly, Meghan Matherly, T.J. Matherly, Taylor (Cory) Madison and Tamera (Grant) Wittmer. Ronda is preceded in death by her grandparents and stepdad Cliff Cook.
