Ronnie Ulin

Mr. Ronnie Ulin, 67, of rural Green Mountain/Marshalltown, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, at his home.Memorial services and a celebration of Rons life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26th, at the Green Mountain United Church of Christ with Pastor Kim Wilson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Green Mountain Cemetery with flag presentation honors by the American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46 of Marshalltown. Visitation with his family present will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be made to the family or the Iowa Lions Foundation. He graduated from the Wellman High School and later received his AA degree from the Marshalltown Community College. Ron served our country honorably in the US Army during the Viet Nam War stationed in Thailand. He served from February of 1967 until honorably discharged in October of 1969.On January 26th, 1964, he was united in marriage to Betty Hilsabeck. Ron was employed at Fisher Controls for 40 years and was a member of the Green Mountain United Church of Christ and the Green Mountain Lions Club receiving the honor of the Melvin Jones Fellowship and Warren Coleman Award. He also served as District Governor of District 9X8 in 1985-86.Left to cherish his memory are Betty, his loving wife of 44 years, sons James (Shonda) Ulin of Marshalltown and John Ulin of Aurora, Colorado, two granddaughters Isabelle and Mina, brother Ivan of Wellman, sister-in-law Dee Ulin of Riverside, brother-in-law Dave (Jean) Hilsabeck of Green Mountain and a host of neighbors and friends.In death he has rejoined his parents and brother, Cedric.
