Rosalie Dostal, 76, of Marshalltown, died Friday, November 6, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family and in the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009, at St. Henrys Catholic Church. Burial will be in Clutier Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or House of Compassion. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM, with a vigil service and rosary to follow the visitation, at St. Henrys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Rosalie Mary Chrudimsky was born on April 5, 1933, in Clutier, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Agnes (Kuchynkas) Chrudimsky. Rosalie attended rural schools and then graduated from Clutier High School in 1951. On August 25, 1952, Rosalie married Melvin Dostal at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. The couple lived in Clutier, Killeen, TX, Cedar Falls during the college years, New Hampton, and eventually moved to Marshalltown in 1964. Rosalie worked for Pioneer Seed Corn recruiting detasslers and worked in the family businesses as well. She was a quiet person who led by example. She was a member of St. Henrys Catholic Church, CCW, Social Concerns, volunteered at House of Compassion, and worked as co-chair for many years of St. Henrys funeral luncheons. For 39+ years, she was a member of a Monday morning coffee group. She enjoyed her family, playing bridge, gardening, and loved her Beagles. Rosalie was known as the lady who walked the Beagle. She is survived by her husband, Melvin, of Marshalltown; her children, Susan (Don) Sears of Urbandale, Sandy(Rich) Nauman of Des Moines, Kris (Rick) DeVolder of Marshalltown, and Brian (Suzette) Dostal of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Molly, Josh, and Maggie Nauman, Beth and Ross DeVolder, and Mitchell, Grant, Noah, and Drew Dostal; her great-grandchildren, Celeste, Paige, Ethan, Jordan, and Aidan; and her twin brother, Wilbur(Dorothy) Chrudimsky of Clutier. In death, she has rejoined her parents and her sister Audrey, who died in childhood.
