Rosalyn Esther Allen

Rosalyn E. Allen, 93, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Southridge Specialty Care under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice of Des Moines. Private graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Riverside Cemetery for derecho relief. Born Rosalyn Esther Schmidt on July 31, 1927 in Grafton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Herman and Laura (Wahl) Schmidt. She graduated from Grafton High School in 1945. Rosalyn was united in marriage to Ralph F. Allen of Ames on August 24, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Rosalyn was an excellent wife, mother and homemaker and together, she and Ralph raised four beautiful daughters. She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, attending many of the women’s groups there. In her free time, Rosalyn enjoyed bowling and traveling with her husband. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Nancy (Sholem) Allen, Gloria (Gary) Rieger, Peggy (Peter) Kelly and Mary (David) Eubanks; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Rosalyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph; her parents and her three sisters: Luetta Walk, Marcella Braun, and Marilyn Murra.
