Rose Butler

Rose Marie Butler, 97, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 14, at the Iowa River Hospice of Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. Phone 641-844-1234 Rose Marie Carver was born on June 8, 1917. She was the daughter of Charles and Cecilia(Thomas) Carver. Rose attended school in Marshalltown graduating with St. Mary's class of 1934. She went on to attend Ottumwa Heights College. In 1949 Rose was united in marriage to Orin Butler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Before marriage Rose had worked as a secretary at Fisher Controls and after marriage she worked for Lenox and Fairall Kilbride Law Firm. Rose had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and was very proud of being one of the first residents at Olive Estates Community. She loved to fish, read, play games, and cook. Rose's travels included winters at South Padre Island and the trips to the casino. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jody (Jim) Maxted, of Marshalltown, Iowa. Grandchildren: Justin Maxted of Oregon, Mitch (Kumi) Maxted of Ohio, Martha Klyn of Grinnell, Jody (Hayden) Price of California, Amy (Mike) Harrison of California, Samantha (Steve) Wruck of California, and eleven great grandchildren. In death she rejoins her parents, Charles and Cecilia Carver, her husband Orin, children Dennis Butler and Sandra Butler Smith, grandchildren Melanie Maxted and David Butler, and brother Charles Carver.
