Rose Muschick

September 14, 1929 — April 21, 2023

Rose Muschick, 93, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully in the presence of family, on the afternoon of Friday, April 21, 2023, at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown.

Rose Marie O’Neill was born September 14, 1929, to parents Harry and Eva (Snodgrass) and grew up in rural Eagle Center, Iowa. She was the youngest of 7 children. Rose attended school in Eagle Center. After graduation she moved to Waterloo, Iowa and worked her way through the Iowa Teachers College. Upon her graduation she taught in Keokuk, Iowa, before moving to Placentia, California where she resided for 20 years.


Rose married Vern Chapman after moving to California. From this union she had two children, William “Bill” and Julie. The family moved back to Iowa in 1972 and called Creston home. In 1978 the family moved to Marshalltown, divorced 1984. In 1989 she was united in marriage to Carl “Bud” Muschick.


Over her life, Rose worked mostly in the financial field. She worked for Hughes Aircraft in California, and was employed for many years at the Iowa School of Nursing in the financial aid office. She later worked for the State of Iowa College Aid Board Commission as an auditor.


She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, where she was an active member of the Presbyterian Woman club and attended weekly bible studies. Rose was a member of Parents Without Partners where she met Bud. She loved to volunteer and spent a period of at least 10 years volunteering at the Marshalltown Hospital. In her free time, she loved quilting, playing bridge at the Senior Center, reading books, and working in the gardens at the farm and at her home in Clemons. She had a caregiving attitude and was a mentor for those who were new at The Embers and helped them to find their way around their new home. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and always was one to stay active over the years.


Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, Julie (Darrell) Meyer and Bill (Krissy) Chapman; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Jenn) Albright, Clairice Meyer and Margaret Meyer; her great-grandchildren, Declan and Harrison “Harry” Albright and Amelia Dey; her nephews Richard Dilley and John Dierks; and numerous friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Muschick; her parents Harry and Eva O’Neill; and her siblings.
