Rose Vajgrt, 93, of Marshalltown, died early Wednesday morning, March 21st, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center while in their care and of the Iowa River Hospice. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Dr. Rich King of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from noon until 1:15. Following burial, all are invited to fellowship and refreshments at the hospitality room of the funeral home. Born Rose Polak on July 18th, 1913, in Quarry, Iowa, she was the daughter of Melichar and Barbara (Petra) Polak. She received her education in the area of her birth and graduated from the Marshalltown High School. On March 23rd, 1940, she was united in marriage to Rudolph Rudy Vajgrt at the Czech Reformed Church in Cedar Rapids. They have resided in Marshalltown all of their married lives where she was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Left to mourn her loss are her son, Dennis (Jane) Vajgrt of Ames, formerly of Marshalltown, granddaughters: Julia (Jim) Crowley of Victoria, Minnesota and their children- Caroline, Benjamin and Olivia, Maria (Tyler) Burton of San Diego and their son, Raleigh, her sisters-in-law Mabel Polak and Martha Vajgrt both of Marshalltown and several nieces and nephews. In death she has rejoined her husband, Rudy, her son Orin in infancy and siblings: Louis and Joseph Polak, Mary Hemphill, Anna Balvin, Bess Vana and Helen Schneider.
