Rosemary Pencil

Rosemary Pencil (Drake) passed away in the comfort of her home on December 23, 2018 after a long fight. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the family to be used at a later date. For condolences please visit www.Mitchellfh.com or call (641)-844-1234. Rosemary was born on October 11, 1937 to the parents of Charles and Dorothy (Stackhouse) Drake in Alden, Iowa. She was a graduate of East High in Waterloo, with the class of 1955. On February 26, 1956 she married the love of her life Harold Raymond Pencil in Evansdale, Iowa. Rosemary worked for the Waterloo County Home as a nurse and made many friends in her 29 years of work. After Waterloo she took her talent to the Denver Nursing Home and stayed until her retirement. Rosemary was very faithful and help to teach Sunday School when she was not working for the County Home. She also loved to travel and camp in her RV traveling around the United States, most recently they traveled to Texas. In her free time she loved to play cards and she would also work on crafts of all shapes and sizes. Rosemary had a passion for her family and they were the light of her life. Left to cherish Rosemary’s memory is her husband of 62 years, Harold, her children; Monty Pencil, Cheryl (Marvin) Halverson and Duane (Chris) Pencil, grandchildren; Erick, Jessica, Leslie, John, Tyler, Andy, Chuck, Ben, Tia, Coleen, Tanner, Phillip, Trish, Stephanie, Leanna, and Heather, and also her 28 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorothy, and her two sisters and her brother.
