Rosemary Slocum McMullen, 53, of Dumont, Iowa, formerly of Marshalltown, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City on Monday, April 2, 2018.A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Rose and her family. Rosemary Slocum was born in Killeen, Texas on September 27, 1964; she was the daughter of Richard and Elisabeth (Zapp) Slocum. She attended School in the Marshalltown Community School District. Rose had been a homemaker and daycare provider until she was unable to work. She enjoyed cooking, baking, going for walks when she was able and anytime with her family was an awesome day for her, especially time spent with her grandbabies. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Amanda Slocum of Clarksville, Iowa, Derek Slocum of Independence, Iowa, Emily Stevenson of Clarksville, Iowa, Leeza (Rex) Alloway of Eldora, Iowa, and Molly McMullen of Waterloo, Iowa; her 14 grandbabies and her siblings: Renate (Russ) Tenold of Northwood, Iowa, Regina Nelson of Melbourne, Iowa, Robert (Renee) Slocum of Newton, Iowa, Renee (Nathan) Long of Davenport, Iowa, Robin Hunt (Tony McMullen) of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ricky (Trina) Slocum of Marshalltown and Rita Keislar of Melbourne, Iowa and many nieces and nephews and friends. In death Rose rejoins her parents, Elisabeth Cathlett and Richard Slocum; brother, Herman Baumgart; and grandparents, Charles and Marinza Slocum and George Aloysius and Christine Elisabeth Zapp.
