Born Rosalene Stalzer on May 8th, 1931, she was the daughter of Victor and Alma (Hoffmann) Stalzer. Rosie graduated from St. Josephs Parochial School in Haverhill and St. Marys High School in Marshalltown with the Class of 1949. Later that same year, on November 24th, she married the love of her life, Albert Mayer, at St. Marys. They made their home in Marshalltown all their married lives where she took the role of wife and mother. She was a member of St. Marys Parish, the Eagles Lodge and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Rosie held an honorary position as a Meskwaki alumnus and casino ambassador! No one was left out of family dinners and gatherings and her heart grew fuller when more plates were added to the table. She enjoyed reading (and was seldom without a romance novel), going to the casino, gardening, camping, canning, crocheting and Iowa Hawkeye Football tailgating. Left to cherish her memory are her eight children: Carol (Keith) Niedermann, Dianne Walters, Vickie (Mark) McVey, Nick (Teri) Mayer, Mike (Nancy) Mayer, Tom Mayer (Lynn), Terri (Dennis) Elliott and Julie Mayer (Walt); her grandchildren- Cherie Drummer, Steph (Brian) Patro, Heidi Niedermann, Jamie (Heather) Niedermann, Nicole Eubanks (Steve), Nathan Mayer (Sara), Jordan Mayer, Haley Mayer, Megan Mayer, Amy (Dan) McCready, Ryan Elliott, Dustin (Paige) Elliott, Justin McVey (Kristin), Jennifer (Ryan) Baldwin, Matthew Walters and Cassandra Mayer; 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In death, Rosie rejoined her beloved Albert and her mother, Alma.
