Ross Eggers

Ross Eugene Eggers, 83, of State Center, IA passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, with his family by his side.

Ross was born on November 14, 1939, in Marshalltown, IA to parents Marvin and Alice Eggers. He grew up on the family farm west of State Center along with his three siblings: Wayne, Marlys, and Darwin.

Ross graduated from State Center High School in 1958. He enlisted in the Army October of 1958 and served two years based mainly at Ft. Lewis, WA.

On October 9, 1960 he married his high school sweetheart Mary Beth DeButts. They resided in State Center, IA and then moved to the farmstead east of town where they raised their four children. Ross farmed the land and raised livestock. He also drove a truck for Shortley Elevator Trucking and H & W Motor Express. In September 1994 they moved back to town.

Ross is survived by Mary Beth, his wife of 62 years. His children: Lori (Neal) Robinson; LeAnn (Bryan) Tipton; Lisa (Jim) Krieg; and Steve (Kristin) Eggers. Grandchildren Matthew and Rachelle Tipton; Phillip, Rebekah and Kaitlyn Krieg; Sydney and Sam Eggers; Tanner and Myles (Danielle) Bartlett. Great grandchildren: Blane, Cal, Asher, and Matthew.

Ross is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Darwin Eggers, brothers-in-law Bob Rempp and Bill Davis; sisters-in-law Darlyne Eggers and Madge Davis; and a grandson and granddaughter.

Visitation will be Friday, May 12, 2023 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa at 10:00 am. Private burial at Hillside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorials to be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, VA Central Iowa, Care Initiatives State Center Specialty Care and Hospice, Orphan Grain Train, Clemons, IA Branch and State Center Fire and EMS.
