Roy Dana Doran

Roy D. Doran, 58, of Melbourne, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the comfort of his own home. Following Roy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  There will be a public memorial service for Roy held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating.  There will be no visitation prior to services.  Memorial contributions may be directed in Roy’s name to his family.  For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234.  Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Roy and his family. Roy Dana Doran was born on March 21, 1960 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Nancy (Jennings) Doran.  He was raised and educated in the Conrad School District where he graduated from Conrad High School.  On June 21, 1980, Roy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Charlene (Boyles) in Liscomb, Iowa.  At the time of his passing, Roy was currently disabled but he spent many years as a farmer.  He had a passion for fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Miami Dolphins.  Roy also cherished all of the time spent with his dog, “Duke”. Left to cherish Roy’s memory is his wife, Charlene; children: Charles Boyles, Scott Doran and Nathan Doran; grandchildren: Payton Lavender, Leah Doran, Abby Doran and Kaylee Boyles; mother: Nancy Doran; siblings: Allen Doran, Steve Doran, Annette Koch and Cindy O’Clair; as well has his four legged furry companion, “Duke”. He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Doran.
