Roy Eugene Moore was born July 12, 1943 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the middle of three children born to Raymond and Mildred (Drew) Moore. Roy attended school in Marshalltown and later graduated as part of the Class of 1963 from Marshalltown High School. He furthered his education at a technical school in Kentucky. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the intelligence department. After his years, he was honorably discharged from service.
Growing up, Roy had a couple of starting jobs working at Walgreens and Robners Grocery. Into his adult life he had many large accomplishments. He had the ability to say that he had built his own home as well as starting his own security company. He had a brief stint of working for Lennox Industries under their research and development unit until they moved operations to Texas. He then carried out the rest of his work life for the Marshalltown Hospital as their Shipping and Receiving manager.
Roy had a whirlwind of hobbies that swirled around technology. He was a certified HAM radio operator, always took interest in any electronics, working on computers, and shortwave radio. When he grew tired of one of these, he switched into one of those others. He was into photography and even moved with the evolution of the camera starting with his own dark room in his home to develop his photos. After the war, he traveled through Europe and Asia and at later dates traveled through South America and other countries. He loved listening to country music and bluegrass and for years, took trips to Nashville in order to see and listen to live country musicians. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time with his family, going for walks and doing yardwork and eating ice cream.
He is survived by his sister, Phylis Pantle; his niece and nephews, Kim (Jeff) Sogge, Kevin (Claudia) Pantle and Charles Pantle; and great-nieces and nephews, Madison (Vincent) Locascio, Aidan Pantle, Meghan Pantle and Ian Pantle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mildred Moore; his brother, Roger Moore; and brother-in-law, Richard Pantle.
