Royce M. Van Cleave, 76, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully, on February 27, 2015. Funeral services for Royce will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Hope United Methodist Church. A visitation for family to greet friends will be held from 5:00 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born on July 15, 1938, in Moline, Illinois, Royce was the son of Clyde and Ruby (Burden) Van Cleave. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1957. Royce attended Marshalltown Community College while working in sales at Marshalltown Instruments. He retired from Marshalltown Trowel as a Regional Sales Manager in 2001. Royce married Lynda Yordy in 1958, and they shared a life together that spanned 56 years. He always had a smile and a keen sense of humor. His family always came first. Royce enjoyed all sports, both participating and as a player, or even as an avid vocal spectator! The last years of his life, Royce really enjoyed playing golf with Harry. He was a charter member of Hope United Methodist Church. Royce will be remembered by his loving wife, Lynda, their children and grandchildren: Greg Van Cleave, of Marshalltown; Lisa (Tom) Topping of Iowa City, Zackery (Jen) Topping of Omaha, Nebraska, and Andrew Topping of Iowa City; Lee (Jill) Van Cleave of Conrad, Makayla and Madison; sister: La Rue Woosley of Conrad; nephews: Martin (Judy) Woosley of Sedelia, Missouri, Mike (Connie) Woosley of Conrad, and Mitch (Tammie) Woosley of Dillon, and Brian Yordy of Marshalltown; special friends, Kendall and Karla Huehn. In death, Royce joins his parents and his brother-in-law, Ted Woosley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Royces name to Iowa River Hospice, Renovate the Roundhouse Project, or a charity of choice. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Grandview Heights for their kind and supportive care of Royce for these last 11 months. Also, the family would like to thank Iowa River Hospice for giving him comfort in his final months. Visitation: Mitchell Family Funeral Home 1209 W.
