Ruby Forbes

Ruby Forbes, 85, of the Conrad area, passed away at Westbrook Acres on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in Marshalltown. Ruby Faye Bowling was born on July 18, 1929, in Carter County Kentucky. She was the daughter of Thurman and Effie Mae Bowling. She was educated in the area of her birth. On September 13, 1947, Ruby was united in marriage to C. Glenn Forbes. After Glenns retirement from the military, they moved to Montour, Iowa, then to Vincent, Iowa, and in the late 70s, they retired to rural Conrad. Ruby was a homemaker and moma job she loved. She loved to cook and was a great one too! Ruby enjoyed sharing food with others, enjoyed her garden, loved animals and raised chickens. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Ruby had a great love for her family and enjoyed being with them. Left to cherish Rubys memory are her children: Deborah (Terry) Freeman of Columbia, Missouri; and Glenna (Forrest) Whitford of Volga City, Iowa. Grandchildren: Laura (Lucas) Sampson and their children Leela Faye, and Landyn Leigh; Ashley (Jospeh) Buss and their son, Zachary; Joseph and Anna (Luke) Reisetter and their children, Zoe Marie and Aleyna Song. Siblings: Virginia Chadwick of Kentucky, and Paul (Lorene) Stapleton of Worthington, Kentucky. In death, Ruby rejoins her parents,Thurman and Effie; husband, Glenn; son, Charles; brother, Junior; and sisters, Ruth and Loretta.
