Ruth Boriskey

Ruth A. Boriskey, 74, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday evening, December 14, in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 17, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Ph 641-844-1234.Born Ruth Arlene Green on February 9, 1936, in rural Montour, Iowa, she was the daughter of Beryl and Helen (Wall) Green. She graduated from Montour High Schools Class of 1953. In 1980, she graduated with her LPN degree from MCC.On March 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Frank Boriskey in Montour. They made their home in Montour until moving to Albion in 1964. In 1982, they moved to Marshalltown. Frank passed away in 2006.Ruth was employed at the Marshalltown Public School District for 32 years until retiring in 1998. Her duties included driving a school bus and managing the high school laundry department where she was responsible for all of the care and maintenance of the athletic uniforms. She also did all of the sewing for the school district. During her nursing career, Ruth was employed at the Villa Del Sol nursing home in Marshalltown.Ruth will be fondly remembered for her love of her family. She enjoyed going to garage sales, playing cards, watching butterflies, and in her younger years, bowling, playing basketball, participating in band and playing the piano and accordion. She will be greatly missed by many.Left to treasure her memory are her children: Frank Jr. (Pam) Boriskey of Marshalltown, John (Mary Ann) Boriskey of Marshalltown, Jane (Alan) Wilken of Missouri City, TX., and Dick (Karen) Boriskey of Des Moines, grandchildren: Joni Schrad, Kari Kerber, Neil Boriskey, Sierra Boriskey, Patricia Wilken, Steven Wilken and Nick Boriskey; great-grandchildren- Alison Schrad, Garrett Kerber, Makayla Kerber, Logan Schrad, Andrea Boriskey, Madyson Boriskey, Keinzle Boriskey and Gabe Beck as well as her siblings: Gary (LaLoni) Green of Orlando, FL, Roger (Nancy) Green of Montour, Ron (Loma) Green of Montour and Barb (Duane) Prusha of Grinnell and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. In death, she rejoined her beloved Frank, brother Richard Green, brother Beryl Jr. in infancy, her parents and granddaughter Christine Wilken.
