She was raised and educated in the Albion School District, graduating from Albion High School. Following High School, Ruth went on to Central Iowa Business College. On February 19, 1949, Ruth was united in marriage to the love of her life, John H. Cable at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in Marshalltown on 18th Street for nearly 60 years. John and Ruth did a lot of traveling. They loved their home, neighbors and friends. For 24 years the couple would spend their winters down south, 2 years in Mission, Texas, and 22 years in Mesa, Arizona. Ruth was a proud 50 year member of Madon Shrine No. 38 and P.W.H.P., the Alliant retirees and V.F.W. auxiliary. She loved spending time with her friends and family and treasured every trip that her and John got to go on together. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, one half-sister and one half-brother.
