Ruth (Mrs. Claire) Goshon, 91, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, December 18th, 2010, at the Almost Like Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon with Pastor Fred Berry officiating. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ruth and her family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on May 13th, 1919, at home near Dillon, she was the daughter of Walter and Ila (Goodman) Wolken. She graduated from the Ferguson High Schools Class of 1938. On September 2nd, 1940, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon, she was united in marriage to Claire Goshon. They farmed in the rural Gilman area until moving to Marshalltown in 1976. Ruth was employed at Fantles and had previously driven school bus for the LDF Schools. Ruth and Claire enjoyed square-dancing and playing cards. She treasured her family and family get-togethers including Sunday dinners at her parents home. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon, LWML/ Ladies Aid and the Pleasant Hour Club. Left to cherish her memory are Claire, her loving husband of 70 years, four children: Richard (Denise) of Marshalltown, Steven of Toledo, Kay (Greg) Davidson of rural LeGrand and Dennis (Ruth) of Jefferson, 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, her brother-in-law Chet Stubbs, sister-in-law Marla Grossman and many friends. In death, she rejoined her parents, great-granddaughter Valinda, siblings: Doris Stubbs, Harland (Peggy) Wolken, Raymond (Henrietta) Wolken and Helen (Ray) Roggenbuck.
