Ruth Randall

Ruth Randall, 89, of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, December 24th, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Kodis of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Born on April 22nd, 1927 at Beaman, Iowa, she was one of eight children born to Willis and Grace (Stover) Cathcart. She graduated from the Albion High School in 1945. Ruth was united in marriage to David Max Randall and together they made their home in Marshalltown where she worked at Marshalltown Instruments until their closing. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary (Lifetime), VFW Auxiliary (Lifetime) and the VFW Home for Children. She and Max enjoyed the many trips they made to VFW and 40&8 events over the years. Ruth will be fondly remembered for her ability to make some of the best pies anyone ever had- especially the coconut cream and chocolate cream ones. Left to mourn her loss is her son David and grandson Matthew of Marshalltown. In death, Ruth rejoined her parents, husband D. Max Randall (1996), three brothers and two sisters.
