Ruth Sunkle

Ruth Elaine Sunkle, 66, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at her home. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ruth Sickels was born on November 23, 1949 in Waukon, Iowa to Arthur and Alvina Nelson Sickels. Ruth graduated from Waukon High School in 1968. In 1971, Ruth was united in marriage to Richard Coughenour and they divorced in 1975. Ruth later married Phil Sunkle in Missouri. They made their home in Marshalltown. Ruth was a baby sitter, homemaker and most recently had worked at Curves in Marshalltown. She enjoyed volunteering her time at MMSC, the school system, Iowa River Hospice Home and Big Brother, Big Sister and had her own little sister; Tasia Miggins. Ruth enjoyed working in her yard as well as spending time helping Alvina with yardwork. Ruth is survived by her children: Tracy (Allen) Dage of Ocala, Florida and Byron (Heidi) Sunkle of Marshalltown. Mother: Alvina Sickels. Grandchildren: Tannar, Abby, Skyler, Kaitlynn, Gage and Mia. Siblings: Rod (Deb) Sickels of Dorchester, Bob (Bev) Sickels of Nevada and Becky (Curt) See of Texas. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Phil, father Arthur and brother Richard Sickels.
