Ryan Michael Hansen

Ryan Michael Hansen, 38, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Per the wishes of Ryan and his family, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will take place on Wednesday, January 11 at 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 5:00 P.M. Private family burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Haverhill. Memorials may be directed in Ryan’s name to the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown or the Marshalltown Emergency Food Box. Ryan was born March 14, 1984 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Larry and Catherine (Coghlin) Hansen. He spent his childhood growing up in Haverhill. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 2002, he attended classed at Marshalltown Community College. Most recently, Ryan was working as event coordinator and maintenance at the Best Western Regency Inn. He also dedicated several years at Hy-Vee, both in Marshalltown and as bakery manager in Iowa Falls.

Ryan loved all things tech and was a true computer “nerd.” He owned his own computer repair business in Tama/Toledo for a time. Before social media was a thing, he created the website marshalltownpunk.com to promote all the local Marshalltown live shows. He was passionate about music, Iowa State sports and national politics. Ryan was always very involved in the Iowa Caucus and had met many national politicians over the years.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Larry and Catherine Hansen; his brothers: Andrew Hansen and Patrick Hansen; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved dog, Chance.

In eternal life he is reunited with his grandparents: Robert and Helen Hansen and Tom Jr. and Audrey Coghlin; his aunt Donna Coghlin and uncle Tom Coghlin III.
