Jeanne (Mrs. Vernon) Bein, 80, of Marshalltown, formerly of Beaman, died Friday, April 4th, in Bonita Springs, FL.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Beaman United Methodist Church with Pastor Mee officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Vienna Cemetery at Beaman. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ph 641-844-1234.Shirley Jeanne Pond was born April 25th, 1927 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Her parents were Laura Mae (Sharer) Pond and Lewis E. Pond. She was raised by her grandparents Charles Cecil and Edith (Phipps) Sharer. She attended Marshalltown schools and graduated in 1945 from Marshalltown High School. She attended Central Iowa Business College and worked in the office of Fisher Governor.S. Jeanne married Vernon A. Bein at the First Friends Church in Marshalltown on April 9th, 1950. They lived and farmed three miles south of Beaman where they raised their four children: John (Nancy) Bein of Bondurant, Diane (Pat) McDermott of Ankeny, Linda (John) Fevold of Story City, and Susan (Todd) Thompson of Clive. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren: Tim, Jeff, Andy and Megan McDermott, Sarah (Bein) Espinoza and Eric Bein, Adam, Kiersten and Michaella Fevold, Scott and Kylie Thompson; great-grandchildren Helena and Ryan McDermott and Erica Espinoza, two adopted daughters from Germany Siglinde Kaiser and Luise Neumann and one sister, Elaine (Paul) Mueller of Jefferson City, MO.Jeanne helped her husband on the farm. They left the farm home in 1997 and moved to Marshalltown. They enjoyed boating, camping and traveling to in their motorhome having visited all 50 states. They also traveled to Europe, South America, Mexico, and Canada. In 1991, they purchased a home in Bonita Springs, Florida and spent six months there and six months in Iowa.In 1973-1974, they hosted a Youth for Understanding student, Siglinde Kaiser, of Osnabruck, Germany, and now of Berlin. She returned every year to spend three weeks with Vernon and Jeanne in their Florida home.Jeanne was a member of the Beaman United Methodist Church for over 57 years. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 57 years and active in the YWCA water exercise since 1984. Jeanne swam with the Citrus Park (Florida) Synchronized Swimmers in their yearly show until she was 80.Jeanne joined her Lord and Savior on April 4th, 2008, with her family at her bedside. Jeanne often said that because of her Quaker upbringing her faith was simple but strong. She believed in God and that Jesus is Gods son. Her greatest comfort was prayer.
