Sally Ann Robertson

Sally Robertson, age 73 of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at The Willows of Marshalltown.

Born Sally Ann Weaver on November 1, 1952, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Paul and Bonnie (Wenke) Weaver. Sally lived in Toledo until the family moved to Marshalltown in 4th grade. She graduated from Lenihan High School in 1970 and Creighton University in 1975 with a BS in Nursing.

Sally was united in marriage with Jim Robertson, and while this marriage ended in divorce, it brought her the two biggest blessings in life — her sons, Judd and Jake.

Sally went on to work in hospital intensive coronary care units in Omaha, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; and Boise, Idaho. She taught nursing at MMSC School of Nursing. After volunteering in the community for a few years, she returned to nursing and worked as a school nurse for the Marshalltown Public Schools. Nursing was the best possible career for her as her passion in life was to care for those around her. With the students she served, she rarely stopped at what the job asked of her and cared passionately.

She loved her boys with all her heart and was proud of the men they became. She took pride in all of their accomplishments in life. Becoming a grandmother delighted her. She kept photographs of Juliana, Sutter, and Decker close at hand and would show them to anyone willing to look.

For twenty years, Sally shared her life with Rollin Ray. It was a partnership in every sense — she kept the books for his roofing business and cooked for his crews, looking after those men the way she looked after everyone who crossed her path. A lifelong dog lover, she doted on Sunny and Silver, the dogs she and Rollin raised together, and they remained her steady companions, and a source of great happiness, through her retirement.

In death, Sally is reunited with her parents: Paul and Bonnie Weaver; and her significant other, Rollin Ray. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Judd (Amy) Robertson and Jake (Caitlin) Robertson; grandchildren: Juliana, Sutter, and Decker; and her siblings: Joe (Susan) Weaver and Kim Lankelma.

Per Sally’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Friends and family may gather to celebrate Sally’s life on Sunday, September 20th from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Sally will be laid to rest next to her parents at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown.
