Sammi Luse, age 73, of Marshalltown, Iowa, entered into the gates of heaven on the morning of June 12, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Sammi Jo Adams was born February 5, 1953 in Wisconsin. She was the youngest of two children born to Eugene “Bill” and Jessie “Gail” (Doudna) Adams. Sammi grew up in Buffalo, Iowa. She attended school in Davenport graduating from Central High School.
On June 20, 1970, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard “Rick” Luse at the Presbyterian Church in Blue Grass, Iowa. Sammi and Rick were blessed with three children, Cedra, Tony and Janelle. She worked as a teachers aid in various school districts between Bluegrass, Iowa, Manhattan Kansas and Marshalltown while her children were in their early years. Sammi went back to school at Marshalltown Community College and Buena Vista University earning her Associates and Bachelor Degrees. She furthered her education receiving a Master’s Degree in Education. Sammi taught at Miller Middle School in the English department. Before her retirement in 2018, she was an instructional coach. After Rick’s retirement he and Sammi returned to Marshalltown to be closer to family.
Sammi was a devout Christian. She was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. In her free time, Sammi was known to be an avid reader. She enjoyed being a teacher and kept up on writing and was always journaling. She had a love for wildlife and enjoyed watching them and had a soft spot for all animals. She showed Doberman Pinchers and Smooth Fox Terriers alongside Rick at various dog shows. Sammi loved her social time with her friends and making memories with her family and attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events and academic activities.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Cedra (David) Baccam, Tony Luse and Janelle (Brad) Avise; six grandchildren, DJ Baccam, Lafawn (Andy) Kral, Cole Baccam and fiancé Marina Ruppel, Tori Luse, Kadin Skala and fiancé Anna Dilorio and Bella Avise; two step grandchildren, Desiree (Alex) Craig and Mia Avise; four great-grandsons, Dezmond Baccam, Jack, Matthew and Tommy Kral; two step great granddaughters, Alenzcia Baccam and Scarlett Craig; and her brother, Gage Adams along with many nieces and nephews.
In eternal life, she is rejoined with her husband of 55 years, Richard “Rick” Luse and her parents, Bill and Gail Adams.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026 beginning at 11:00 AM at New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. She will be laid to rest at Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Missouri on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Memorials in Sammi’s name may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown.
