Sandra L. Packer

Sandra L. Packer, age 90 of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown.

Born Sandra Lea Gantz on May 3, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of James and Emily Gantz. Sandy’s parents later divorced, and she was adopted by her stepfather, Ray Franks in 1941, at the age of 5. Sandy graduated from high school in 1954. Sandy worked at Dunham Bush as a secretary for 20 years.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Lucas Swope in 2009 and Scott Kralik in 2020; husband, Allan Packer in 2022; brothers: Kenny, Marvin, and Duane Franks; and her brother-in-law, Carl Petsel.

Sandy’s survived by her daughter, Mandy (John) Fox of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Whitney (Zach) Takes of Hiawatha, and their son, Bentley, and Dylan (Megan) Koger of Marshalltown; and her sister, Pauline Petsel of Greensville, TN.
