Saxon Xavier Hill
February 3rd, 1988 – April 21st, 2026
After a 15-year fight with brain cancer, Saxon Hill found peace and passed on to the stars at the age of 38. He attended Marshalltown High School. Every limitation that was placed on them, they overcame. Being told at 22 that you have two years to live and no time to build a life, and turning that into fifteen years building a life with a devoted wife and two beautiful sons, who were miracles in themselves after Saxon's extensive cancer treatments. Saxon was living proof that a diagnosis isn’t a life sentence, just a road map; and while he could, he used his time pouring into others more than himself, speaking and advocating for others. Saxon enjoyed glass art, the ocean(but just the sound not the water)and a perfectly cooked pork tenderloin sandwich. Saxon loved his family unconditionally, non traditionally, and fought for them until the very end. Now he can be home in the stars. Never give in, never give up he always said. Saxon Hill is survived by his young sons Francis and Quinton, and his wife Makayla.
In the journey of death, we say they have passed away, and they call those of us left here survivors. Saxon is not one to consider us survivors, but pieces of a puzzle placed through their life. Some parts were groups you make while trying to build the edges of the puzzle. Other pieces were jagged and broken, had no place to fit, but they had to be there—even the worst parts. Other pieces were a beacon, a bright light, an exquisite display on the table, placed gently along the insides of the edges of that puzzle Saxon curated. There’s not an incomplete piece of art left for us…
There will be no formal services held. In lieu of flowers or plants, donations may be made directly to Saxon’s sons, Francis Hill and Quinton Hill. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with Saxon’s care. To leave online condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.
