Scott Speas

Scott Speas, 40, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on the evening of Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the comfort of his own home.  Public visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  No funeral services will be held following the visitation.   Memorial contributions may be directed in Scott’s name to his family.  For further information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call (641) 844-1234.   Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Scott and his family. Born Scott James Speas on March 8th, 1977, in Marshalltown, he was the son of James and Kathie (Briggs) Speas. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School’s Class of 1995.  Scott was employed at Lennox Industries for over the past 18 years. He enjoyed his profession and the people he worked with. In his time off, he enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing golf. He was a member of the Lennox Union and formerly of the Tri-County Bass Club. It was a good day for Scott if either the Chicago Cubs or Iowa Hawkeyes were playing as well.  Left to mourn his loss are his parents-Jim and Kathie Speas of Marshalltown, sister Missy Potter of Marshalltown, niece and nephews- Keegan, Karlie and Carson Potter; aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.  In death, Scott rejoined his grandparents Edith and Merle (Pedro) Briggs and Pearl and Dale Speas. On Monday morning, his faithful companion and friend Teek, his dog, crossed the Rainbow Bridge to meet Scott on the other side. Both needed each other to care for in heaven.
