Scott James Thomson, 55, of Garwin, Iowa, went home to the Lord on Sunday, March 9, 2014. Funeral services for Scott will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until services begin at 3:00 p.m. where his family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in Scotts name to his family. Born Scott James Thomson on May 6, 1958, in the beautiful state of Hawaii, he was one of two sons of James and Rosemary (Clinebell) Thomson. He was raised and educated in the state of Illinois, graduating from Morton, IL., and later Buena Vista on the Marshalltown campus receiving his Bachelors degree. On November 15, 2008, at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, he was married to the love of his life, Janice Best. They enjoyed a wonderful but short life together going fishing, grilling out with family and friends and having a beer or two. He was employed as a supervisor with Lennox for five years before working at John Deere as a supervisor. Scott was an avid sports fan, enjoying a game of golf or watching his favorite teams who were the Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls. Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Janice Thomson; children: Steven and Michael Thomson with his first wife Jill, Amber (Billy) Niederklopfer, Ashleigh (Chris) Gummert, Destiny (Brad) Morey, Britney Best, Tabytha and Michele Teube; grandchildren: Amy, Steven, Elexus Ocasio and Trinnity Morey; father, James Thomson; one brother, Craig (Mary) Thomson; three nieces and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his mother: Rosemary and his grandparents.
