Shana Marie Hinton

Shana Hinton, age 50 of Reinbeck, passed away at Grundy County Memorial Hospital on March 25, 2026.

Shana Marie was born on October 21, 1975, in Boise, Idaho. She was adopted by her parents Ralph Thompson Hinton III and Maureen (Bartholomeo) Hinton, and raised in the Lewiston, Idaho, where she graduated high school.

Shana lived out on the east coast for a short time, and built a life here in Iowa. In 1999, Shana was united in marriage with Lee Bachle. From that union, they were blessed with a daughter, Juniper “Stormy”. The couple later divorced.

Shana was an EMT and a truck driver. She was still a truck driver at heart, even as she was no longer able to drive. In recent years, she met her soulmate, James “Jamie” Barber.

Shana was both stubborn and the most kindhearted and selfless person you could meet. She would give the shirt off her back for those in need and wore her heart on her sleeve. Those closest to her knew she would fight with them, but was always quick to make up. Shana was a fixer and put other people’s needs before her own. She loved her family and friends fiercely.

Shana was preceded in death by her parents; and two grandchildren, James and Erica. Left to cherish her memory are: her daughter, Juniper, and her father, Lee Bachle; her soulmate and life partner, Jamie Barber; the children she protected as her own: Jason, Kayosha, Cassie, and Cede; and her three siblings. She is also survived by countless friends, including her dear friends: Kat, Paul, and Todd; and her dog, Bruno.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will hold a private celebration of Shana’s life. Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
