Sharayne Danielle Glass

ShaRayne “Rayne” Danielle Glass, age 29, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.  A public visitation for friends and family will take place Sunday, July 12 @ 12:30 - 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  She and her family are being cared for by Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  For additional questions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. ShaRayne was born October 26, 1990 to John Thomas Alexander Jr. and Shasity Glass in Lake Village, Arkansas.  She lived in Eudora, Arkansas until moving to Marshalltown at age 12.  She graduated from Marshalltown High School and had most recently provided childcare from her home. She loved to read, sing and dance.  ShaRayne had one of the most amazing, calming singing voices.  If you saw her anywhere you’d either see her face buried in a book or hear her singing voice before you even saw her.  You would just follow this angelic sound until you reached the source.  She never hesitated to sing to or for anyone, she would have folks calling her just to have her sing to them over the phone.  Aside from her music, Rayne’s life revolved around the kids.  They all absolutely loved her, it was always a party. Left to cherish her memory is her mom Shasity Glass; dad John Thomas Alexander Jr.; siblings CharMaine (Ian) Brockway, Tymeshia Glass, Khadijah Alexander, and Malaysia Alexander; paternal grandfather John “J.T.” Thomas Alexander Sr.; maternal grandmother Gloria Dean Glass; a host of aunts and uncles; nephews Adrian Glass, Tremaine Vopava, and Alexander Avina Glass; niece (Ava); and many friends, including YaiSha Erwin. ShaRayne is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Gloria Jean Alexander; maternal grandfather James Glass; aunt Tamera Glass; and cousin Donyell Rafter.
