Sharon Jensen Wood

Sharon Jensen Wood, 89, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Sharon Smith was born on August 13, 1934 in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. She was the daughter to Marcie and Gladys (Wickham) Smith. Sharon graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in 1951 and went on to take some college courses at MACC (Marshalltown Community College) to obtain her nursing degree in 1954. She had worked at the hospital in Marshalltown as an intensive care and critical care nurse. Sharon was united in marriage to Richard Jensen on October 23, 1953 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua and later was married to Alan Wood on November 13, 1999. Sharon was a faithful member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown. She enjoyed playing cards with her Sunset Café card group and was very well known for baking her pies and cinnamon rolls. Sharon loved to sing, and was very dedicated to her family, grandchildren and friends. She never said anything negative and was always optimistic.

Sharon is survived by her children: Robin Mancieri of Marshalltown, Lori (Mark) Chase of Marshalltown and Rod (Melissa) Jensen of Marshalltown. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jon, Angie, Brigit, Brandi, Brooke, Nicole, Miles, Ryan, Tyler, Colin, Dustin, Danielle and Brittany; great-grandchildren: Preston, Tanner, McKenzie, Jackson, Evangeline, Caleb, Ty, Wyatt, Jace, Floyd, Liam and Saylor plus one on the way and her sister-in-law: Donna Smith of Arizona.

Sharon is preceded in death by her late husbands, Richard and Alan; son: Brad Jensen; son-in-law: Nic Mancieri; grandson: Jay Mancieri; brother: Jack Smith and parents: Marcie and Gladys.
