Sharon Ann Moss of Le Grand, IA passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026.
Sharon was born on July 3, 1954 to David Jerome Ainsworth and Shirley Ann Lockett Ainsworth. In 1959, her family relocated to Marshalltown, Iowa where she attended Marshalltown schools and later earned her GED.
Sharon had four children from previous marriages: Amy (Lacey) Wyatt, Kenneth Lacey, Jennifer (Lacey) Russell, and Alison (Betts) Winterscheidt. On April 10, 2004, she married Leonard Moss, reconnecting with a childhood friend she had known through family camping trips. The reunion after many years led to a loving partnership filled with adventure and laughter. Sharon and Leonard shared a passion for travel, especially on their beloved Harley-Davidson. They enjoyed riding through Northeast Iowa, Door County, Wisconsin and making trips to Sturgis.
Sharon valued times spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and love sharing stories from her travels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Shirley Ainsworth; grandparents, David and Betty Ainsworth and Donald and Florence Lockett; brother, Richard Ainsworth; stepson Lenny Paul Betts; granddaughter Kaitlyn Marie Weatherman; in-laws Leon and Avonelle Moss; and sister-in-law Shirley Cowles.
Sharon is survived by her husband Leonard; her cherished fur baby and constant companion, Oliver; her children, Amy (Jay) Wyatt of Le Grand, Kenneth (Stephanie) Lacey of Springdale, Jennifer (Victor) Russell of Maricopa Arizona and Alison (Lee) Wintercheidt of Waterloo, step-children Donnie, Amber, Landon and Logan Moss of Colfax, Iowa; and her beloved grandchildren: Jason Wyatt, Alex (Jon) Martin, Samantha Wyatt, Emily (Max) White, Mikayla Lacey, Logan Lacey, Jacob (Hilary) Weatherman, Sam, Haley, Rylee, Jake, and Joe Russell, Tiffany (Nick) Kruger, Lauren Vis, Josh Vis, Kaylee Winterscheidt, Drew Winterscheidt, Avonelle, Gage, and Tasha Moss, along with 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Donald Ainsworth; sister Susan Worsfold; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Sharon's love for adventure, storytelling and time with family will be fondly remembered.
Per Sharon and her family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Sharon’s funeral service has been scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026, starting at 11:00 A.M. at the Le Grand Friends Church in Le Grand, Iowa. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation one- hour prior to the service, also at the church. Memorials in Sharon’s name may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home of Marshalltown.
