Sharon Lynne Smith, 58, of Newton, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. After the services, cremation rites will be accorded and the family will have a burial at the Viola Cemetery in Pickerington, Ohio at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Sharon Norris was born on January 6, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio. On November 18, 1978, she was united in marriage to Mark Smith at the Methodist Church in Pickerington, Ohio. Sharon had worked for Mid Iowa Community Action MICA as a Statistical Specialist for over 35 years. Sharon is survived by her husband of 38 years, Mark, father Samuel Patterson, siblings: Dennis (Janet) Norris, Paul (Carol) Norris, John (Kathy) Norris, Sandy Larson, Samuel (Missy) Patterson, Darla (Jeff) Verman, Deana (Bill) Lavengood and Jay Patterson. Sharon is preceded in death by her mother Mary, brother Robert Norris, father in law Harvey Smith, mother in law Helen Smith, sisters in law Pamela Davis and Patricia Smith as well as her brother in law Michael Smith.
