Shelly Hoop, 43, of Marshalltown, died Sunday, June 5th, at the Iowa River Hospice House.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9th, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Dick Sipe officiating. Ph. 641-844-1234.Born Shelly Peak on March 16, 1968, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Mike and Debra (Erwin) Peak. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1986 and later from Iowa State University in accounting. She was currently employed at Principal Financial in Des Moines and was a member of the First Baptist Church family in Marshalltown.Shelly treasured her son, Alex, and was blessed to be a part of his graduation at the end of May from MHS. She enjoyed scrapbooking, receiving nourishment in her faith from her church family, doing bible study, her pets (cat Tiger) and time with her family and friends. Even on this long journey of cancer, she never gave up a positive attitude and a smile for others. She will be greatly missed.Left to cherish her memory are her son, Alex, parents: Debra (Dale) Shepard of Marshalltown, Mike Peak of the IVH, sister Angie Leavy of Ankeny, grandparents Charles and Joan Erwin of Marshalltown as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.In death, she rejoined her grandma and grandpa Peak.
