Shirlee Marie Beurskens

Shirlee Marie (Dewey) Beurskens, age 84, of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Shirlee was born on May 16, 1939, the daughter of James and Gladys (Reeves) Dewey. She graduated from Marshalltown High School.

In 1957, Shirlee was united in marriage with James Beurskens. From this union were Dean, Carol, Joseph and Cary.

Shirlee drove truck for many years across the country with her husband Jim and later retired from Elim Children’s Center as a childcare provider and cook. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and spent many summers fishing in Canada. She loved spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, and playing cards.

Shirlee was preceded in death by her parents, James Dewey and Gladys Walton; her stepfather Nick Patakitos, her husband, James Beurskens; her children, Dean Beurskens, Carol Snider, Joseph Beurskens and Cary Beurskens; daughter-in-law, Jodi Beurskens; grandson, Zack Beurskens; and grandson-in-law, Cody Reutter. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jillisa (Ryan) Harvey of Le Grand, Jennifer (Michael Hicks) Snider of Marshalltown, Ryan Beurskens of Phoenix, AZ, James Beurskens of Phoenix, AZ, Crissy Reutter of Blue Hill, NE, Haleigh Beurskens of Nebraska, Hunter Beurskens of Wilber, NE; Dani Gavagan (James) of Marshalltown, Andy Beurskens, and 21 great – grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy Lee (Roger) Suey of Fremont, NE and Joyce Elaine Elliott of Marshalltown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Family of Shirlee.
